Although he was thrilled to be competing in the Olympics, tragedy soured his happiness. Sadly, at the age of 54, he lost his stepfather, Aisake, to cancer. The player was going through a difficult time because his stepdad had played a significant role in his Rugby Union adventure.
Mark Nawaqanitawase watched every game he participated in, therefore his absence would undoubtedly have a significant impact on him moving forward.
“I will definitely be doing it for him, a lot of it,” he said in an interview. Now, he’s in a better position. That’s my current situation. For him, I’ll be handling a lot of it.
Mark Nawaqanitawase’s Mother Plays Vital Role In His Life
Mark Nawaqanitawase father, Sevuloni Nawaqanitawase, is Fijian and played rugby. He moved to Sydney in 1991 to play rugby league for the Balmain Tigers.
Mark followed in his dad’s footsteps and went on to participate inside the thirteen-guy code till he turned into 14. Then, he felt encouraged to switch to the 15-man recreation at St. Patrick’s College in Strathfield.
When he was 18, he promised his grandmother, Lorraine, that he might constitute Australia on the 2023 global showpiece in France. He finally fulfilled that dream by means of creating a World Cup debut for the Wallabies in 2023.
Mark Nawaqanitawase made the decision to play rugby professionally while still in college. His mother wasn’t sure if he would succeed in the big time, though.

The rugby star revealed in an interview with The Sydney Morning Herald that it surprised him to hear his mother wanted him to concentrate on his studies.
His mother’s worries were threatening his hopes of playing in the NRL. He disclosed that she didn’t think highly of him participating in league.
“Mums are mums, and since I’m her baby, she doesn’t want to see her kids get hurt or beaten up,” Mark said. That must be the case for all moms.
Mark Nawaqanitawase continued by saying that she was still getting used to the concept of him engaging in a violent game. Fortunately, his mother has now relaxed and is there to cheer him on at every game.
