Around nine o’clock at night on September 2, 2024, the Coast Guard received a call reporting that a boat had struck the river’s break wall, perhaps resulting in a fatal accident in Old Saybrook.
Numerous personnel from neighbouring towns quickly reacted to the call and prepared to locate the missing people from the Connecticut River.
Furthermore, the assistance crew quickly rescued six of the nine Old Saybrook residents who were on board at the time of the boat accident.
But because the tragedy happened at night, the rescue squad was unable to locate the three men, who are believed to be in their mid- to late-20s. It was challenging to locate them because they were not donning their life jackets.
