When Shawn was younger, he assisted his father Wally in opening the first chocolate chip cookie shop in history, which was located in Hollywood, California, at the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Formosa Avenue.

On the other hand, the company declared bankruptcy in 1996, gave up on cookies, and began producing muffins at Wall’s business partner Lu Avignone’s suggestion.
Subsequently, Wally’s private investors sold the business to Thomas H. Lee’s portfolio company Give & Go.
Shawn’s father and dad started Uncle Wally’s Muffin Co. in 1992. It traded in retail locations through the country. The company generated $12 million in sales, up from $300,000 just within first two years.
